NEOLUDICA. ART IS A GAME 2011- 1966 (Venice Biennial 2011) is a project conceived and produced by Musea Game Art Gallery with E-Ludo Lab and Fabbrica Arte, in close partnership with Centro Candiani.
Duchamp, with his statement that “Art is a game between all people of all periods”, predicted the role video game would have on today’s art.
The debate is still on about how video games – Interactive Multimedia Artwork – are a form of art not yet considered by the cultural establishment. While everybody creates, organizes, discusses within their specific areas (environments-fairs, forums, universities), Musea_GameArtGallery_E-Ludo Lab intend to establish a courageous connection and scientifically determine processes and results defined as Neoludica.
The range of this study includes both video game art – analog and digital, photography and video, tangible and immaterial – and a collection of 45 years of console playing, six sections and 33 artists.
