C.W. (Chuck) Eldridge was born in Western North Carolina and developed an interest in tattoos early on after observing his father's tattoos. After serving in the US Navy, Chuck had the opportunity of a lifetime to study tattooing with some of the best names in the business while earning his GI Bill. Chuck has a special place in his heart for preserving tattoo history.
In 1993, Chuck established the Paul Rogers Tattoo Research Center along with Alan Govenar, D.E.Hardy and Henk Schiffmacher. This organization works toward establishing a national landmark for the art of tattooing. Chuck has now brought the Tattoo Archive to Winston-Salem, North Carolina and he spends much of his free time bicycling and searching for more historical tattoo material.
