Hamid Reza Yavari Shoer is an Iranian tailor currently based in Wakefield, Yorkshire. He was the first to be given a 'Studio of Sanctuary' as part of The Art House's artist in residency programme for practicing artists who are also asylum seekers. Being based at The Art House has opened up opportunities to collaborate with local artists and designers, creating space for a formal exchange of ideas and stylistic influence, and helping him quickly establish a successful tailoring business.
Part of a three part film series for Who Are We?, this short film focuses on COLLABORATION as an essential artistic process in the production of people and place.
Who Are We? is a cross-platform event produced by Counterpoints Arts and Open University — designed for Tate Exchange (Tate Modern) — reflecting on identity, belonging, migration and citizenship.
