The Cultural Spring is a Creative People and Places project funded by Arts Council England to increase arts engagement in Sunderland and South Tyneside. In partnership with arts facilitators from Sangini, it is working together with the women’s group of the Friends of the Drop In for Asylum Seekers and Refugees (FODI) to experiment with a variety of arts activities, building skills and identifying interests. This 'groundwork' phase is important for eventually developing an inclusive participatory arts program and creating the right space for groups — such as the FODI women — to engage with the wider community.
Part of a three part film series for Who Are We?, this short film focuses on GROUNDWORK as an essential artistic process in the production of people and place.
Who Are We? is a cross-platform event produced by Counterpoints Arts and Open University — designed for Tate Exchange (Tate Modern) — reflecting on identity, belonging, migration and citizenship.
