A two-parted time-lapse of the stars above Laguna Mountains in San Diego County, CA. First part (pretty dark) is looking North, second part is looking sounds (I think it's the city lights of Tecate MX that illuminate the clouds).
Unfortunately, clouds moved in in both directions, limiting the amount of time I could utilize for taking more photos.
This was my first attempt at doing a time lapse. I shot medium sized JPEGs with my D700 in full manual mode. Unfortunately, the exposures still differ about 1/3 stop for some frames (I have no explanation for that), which is why the video flickers. I cleaned up the individual exposures in Lightroom (thanks to sync) and created the movie with Picasa, the free software from Google.
