This is a really nice mixed use path that runs along Diaz Road in Temecula. The idea behind the path is great, but the execution is less than desirable. When traveling west on Winchester you either have to cross over a double yellow and two lanes of oncoming traffic or make a U turn and enter the path. Exiting the path is just as odd. At the end of the path there is a chain that blocks the path. From what the city has said, the chain is to keep a blind pedestrian from entering the road. If you want to travel east on Rancho Cal Rd you can either hop the curb and make a U turn at the next light or walk your bike down one block on the sidewalk. Entering traffic whether you make a left or a right is tricky and not desirable. The path is a great addition to the biking infrastructure in Temecula. I love how bikes and pedestrians are separate from traffic, but this path could be so much better and see much more use if it were designed better.
I often ride this route and rarely see bikes or people using it. As a bicyclist it is much easier to just ride on the road instead of jumping through hoops to get on and off the path.
