Art historian Johan Pas will guide us through his recent book Artists’ Publications: The Belgian Contribution (Koenig Books, London, 2017).
Starting with the historical avant-gardes of the early 20th Century, Pas sketches out the evolution of artists’ books and magazines released in Belgium. The focus will be on the golden age of the 1950s - 1970s, with a focus on René Magritte and Marcel Broodthaers. Pas will also discuss the recent revival of artists’ print during the last decades.
Pas holds a PhD in art history and is the dean of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp. He is an author, a curator and a collector.
