The performance Live Art Act Transatlantica is a live art action for public and exhibition spaces that started as an intervention commissioned by the design museum Röhsska Museet(Sweden) 2014 for the Picasso exhibition. Since then performed in several formats and venues.
Benedikte Esperi examines how female bodies continuously are objectified and harassed, both within the society and within the art discourse. Nudity has the power to reveal vulnerability and emotions as an uncensored voice in art and life as a critic to mainstream culture, economy and norms. Her intention is to expand the awareness of the spectators in regard to what a body is, what it’s capable of and how it’s perceived.
Benedikte publish her performances through site-specific live art, choreography and videos to expose and dismantle structural violence and oppression from a female perspective.
The performance Live Art Act Transatlantica is an instant embodiment of transgression, transmogrification, transformation, translation and transatlantic issues. She remodels her whole appearance from an objectified female body into the artifact that claims authorship and freedom of speech.
