Arriving in Milton Keynes in 1979 for a job interview with the Milton Keynes Development Corporation, Tim shares his first impressions of the New Town as a modern, larger than expected city, observing that the city’s pace and quality of life appealed to him. He shares his memories working for the Development Corporation in the private housing unit, with key responsibilities including self-build housing, which was, at the time, one of the largest schemes in the country. He recalls being part of the team that was heavily involved in the development of the National Hockey Stadium in Milton Keynes.
This HLF-funded project celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of Milton Keynes. We interviewed more than 50 people who have made the town their home, who shared their memories, experiences, and hopes for the future. For more information about the project, visit mkpeoplesstories.co.uk
