Using a volume filling particle simulation with constrained delaunay tetrahedralisation I filled the Stanford Bunny to create an internal space frame structure.
This method could be used to create rigid supporting structure for sculptures and other irregular forms. Because of the repulsion forces in the particle simulation the nodes are currently evenly spaced, an optimisation routine is being implemented to create a denser mesh where needed.
This video shows the result of the simulation after it has been converted to a stick and pin model and forced against a flat plane.
