Of wanderings and meanderings, physical, mental, affective. Flitting in and out of consciousness. Of images readable and actual (travelling through the Canadian Rockies; fingers combing through the tapestry; MagicCarpet events; a woman with a trolley bag wandering around London), and of images evocative, abstract, associative and coy (water symphony? an angry cat desiring touch?) Visceral, physical, primal, intellectual, the film bypasses language and draws you in and also denies entry.
This is a film inspired by We sat on a mat and had a chat and made maps! #MagicCarpet. It is made by Philip Tan (music), Kai Syng Tan and Michael Tebinka (visual), with footage by: Michael Tebinka, Flanders Tapestry, Enamel Hoque, Marco Berardi, Martha McAlpine, Kai Syng Tan. The film premieres at the South London Gallery on 5 June 2018.
