Emily talks about her experience of growing up in Milton Keynes and her passion for performing arts. She shares how, starting at primary school and also at her secondary school, Stantonbury, she developed her appetite for performing arts. She pursued her interests through becoming involved in local performing arts clubs, a theatre company, and Milton Keynes Operatic Society. She has felt living in Milton Keynes has provided her with great cultural stimulation. She shares how her partial blindness has not hindered her participation in the arts, nor has she felt any discrimination as a result of her visual impairment.
This HLF-funded project celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of Milton Keynes. We interviewed more than 50 people who have made the town their home, who shared their memories, experiences, and hopes for the future. For more information about the project, visit mkpeoplesstories.co.uk
