Compare the way R&S RelayCaster enables 100% error free video IP contribution on unmanaged networks such as the Internet alongside original streaming as sent and received by UDP. The packet loss rate of the network simulator is then increased step-by-step, with R&S RelayCaster again managing error free images with no visible delay.
This video demonstrates the benefits of RelayCaster for IP contribution in unmanaged networks, such as the Internet. In the top left you see the playback of the original stream at the sender side (H.264 encoding).
In the top right, you see a simplified control interface of the network simulator, called WANem. In the bottom left, you see the original stream as sent and received by UDP. In the bottom right, you see the original stream as sent and received by RelayCaster Streaming Protocol (RCSP).
The packet loss rate of the network simulator is then increased step-by-step. The UDP stream immediately shows the result of packet loss, while the RelayCaster stream is 100% error free due to the robust packet repair protocol of RelayCaster. Noticeable is that there is no visible delay between the 'plain' UDP stream and the 100% error free stream as fixed by RelayCaster.
Only at 65% packet loss, there are a view artefacts in the RelayCaster stream. But the stream still shows the same very low latency compared to the original stream. If the packet loss rate goes down again, there is no interruption or re-buffering when RelayCaster is able to provide a 100% error free stream again.
