Rachmaninov - Vocalise, Yamaha C3XA grand piano
Sergei Rachmaninov's Vocalise played on a brand new Yamaha C3'XA' 6'1" grand piano. This piano is the first of the special XA class in the UK, played by Nick Salwey live at our piano showrooms in Ringwood, Hampshire, UK.
We see the launch of the XA class pianos as Yamaha's understanding that some pianists respect the durability, consistency and good value from a Yamaha piano but perhaps are not fond of Yamaha's vibrant and projective tone. The XA class editions of the acclaimed C3 and C6 grand pianos feature European spruce soundboards in place of Alaskan spruce, German Roslau piano wire in place of Japanese Suzuki wire, redesigned soundboard profile, ribs and beam structure as developed in their new breed CFX concert grand piano.
The tone is warm, rounded and fundamental... A Yamaha that does not sound like a Yamaha: interesting move and sure to be a success.
