One of my favourite spots is one of the big S curves just West of Lake Louise - started out with shooting stills with the DSLR, but is even better with a camcorder.
Bonus feature on Friday was the Grizzly who was nonchalantly feeding on the slope above the Westbound track. Any number of stopping tourists couldn't get him out of his routine.
Then it was up to Wapta Lake, just in time to have CP 8700 roll by once more. The train was held again a Partridge siding, until the work train finally cleared.
