This is a short video of the X7 solar X-ray flare on 08:05 UTC Aug 09, 2011. Using data from SDO, AIA in two wavelengths (335 Å and 171 Å combined). A coronal mass ejection is visible at towards the end of the movie. It's not Earth-directed, though
