In the spirit of compromise, Republicans everywhere have teamed up with the President of the United States to persuade Democrats to switch to the Republican Party.
Well, maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but one thing Republicans everywhere can say is that President Obama’s failed policies are unquestionably their best recruiting tool, and it just so happens that he is the star of an excellent new voter registration commercial designed to flip Democrats and Independents to the GOP. After all, the commercial features internationally renowned Barack Obama impressionist Reggie Brown, known for his blockbuster appearances on FOX News' Huckabee, Stossel, and Geraldo At Large, Laura Ingraham's Obama Diaries Live, Real Time with Bill Maher, Lopez Tonight, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Reggie appears in the commercial as the President, sitting at the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office to make a big announcement, that he's been appointed Honorary Chairman of the Republican Voter Registration Drive. He brags about his “great accomplishments,” actually a list of his failures such as the government take-over of healthcare, irresponsible spending, inflating the debt ceiling, and appointing wild-eyed progressives to important federal offices. He attacks Republicans for common sense views, such as “clinging to their guns and religion,” supporting responsible spending and lower taxes, and taking the debt limit and Constitution seriously. He ends saying, “If you believe this stuff, then you need to be a Republican!”
Using creative means for winning over voters has become commonplace in today's political climate, but moving to unconventional and humorous media will be absolutely essential in winning over Democrats and even Independents, many of whom get their political news in the form of liberal comedy from shows like Real Time with Bill Maher, The Daily Show with John Stewart, and The Colbert Report with Stephen Colbert. Reggie’s is a face that Democrats and Independents will recognize from the late night circuit, and he will be sure to draw laughs from voters of all political persuasions while driving the Republican message home.
In fact, the polls prove that Republicans have a lot of work to do if they expect to flip Democrats and Independents in the 2012 election cycle. Gallup's daily tracking for August 1st shows that while only 12% of Republicans support President Obama, almost 40% of Independents and almost 80% of Democrats still support him despite policies that many Republicans and conservatives would call reckless and counter-intuitive, the exact opposite of the common sense policies folks on your side of the aisle are trying to advance.
It's time for the President to do something that will help Republicans, and thanks to Reggie Brown's voter registration commercial created in cooperation with the Republican Leadership Conference and the Louisiana Republican Party, that time is now.
