Moderated by Dr. Tina Rivers Ryan, Assistant Curator at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery
Guests : Jean Gagnon, independent curator, art critic and former Director of the Daniel Langlois Foundation; Anne Spalter, a collector of early computer prints & a digital artist.
Today, digital art is associated with virtual reality and the internet; but fifty years ago, some of the first artists to use computers created images that they printed on paper. Inspired by these “plotter” prints, this panel will discuss digital artists’ surprising uses of paper in the past, present, and future. Guests include Jean Gagnon, independent curator, art critic and former Director of the Daniel Langlois Foundation, as well as Anne Spalter, a major collector of early computer prints and a digital artist who also works with paper.
