Pastor Sam Gamboa spoke on principles for success. With the New Year here, many of us want some form of change in our lives. These changes will only occur if we do something about our desire for that change.
In Matthew 7:24-27, Jesus teaches about Building on a solid foundation.
Principles for success
1) Put God first in your life.
a. Jesus instructs us to seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you (Matthew 6:33). It is God who knows what you need. He will take care of the blessings, which are coming to you.
b. As Jan Painter would say, “Do what you do and God will do what He does.”
c. If God is for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:31) When we try to succeed, there are those who want to see us fail.
d. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. (Psalm 91:1) We need to place God first in our life, we need to worship Him, we need to make God the Lord of our life, before he becomes our Almighty & our defender
e. Commit your work to the LORD, and then your plans will succeed. (Proverbs 16:3)
f. Now thanks be unto God, which always causes us to triumph in Christ…(2 Corinthians 2:14)
2) Know God’s word
a. Study this Book of the Law continually. Meditate on it day and night so you may be sure to obey all that is written in it. Only then will you succeed. (Joshua 1:8) God’s word will change your life. When you change, your problems change.
b. "The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.” (Isaiah 55:10-11)
c. Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with scoffers. But they delight in doing everything the LORD wants; day and night they think about his law. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season without fail. Their leaves never wither, and in all they do, they prosper. (Psalm 1:1-3)
3) Do God’s word
a. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. (James 1:22) Example, forgiveness. If we continue to refuse to forgive, we are not doers of God’s word. Don’t just listen to His word, put His word into action.
b. For all of God's promises have been fulfilled in him. That is why we say "Amen" when we give glory to God through Christ. It is God who gives us, along with you, the ability to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us, and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment of everything he will give us. (2 Corinthians 1:20-22)
c. Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know. (Jeremiah 33:3)
d. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do," says the LORD Almighty, "I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won't have enough room to take it in! Try it! Let me prove it to you! (Malachi 3:10)
