MMG produced this human-centered documentary for the Housing Authority of Champaign County (HACC) to showcase the development and impact of The Manor at Prairie Crossing, an age-restricted senior community that opened in November 2017. The project provides 18 one-bedroom units for residents aged 55+, each designed with accessibility, safety, and independent living in mind. Every unit includes a den, laundry room with furnished washer/dryer, and an attached one-car garage, with Project Based Vouchers ensuring affordability for all residents.

Project Overview

The documentary highlights the importance of modern senior living in today’s rapidly aging society—where more than 10,000 Americans turn 65 every day. Through interviews with seniors, community leaders, and HACC staff, the film explores the urgent need for affordable, high-quality housing options that allow older adults to remain connected to their communities, families, and support systems.

 

MMG’s cameras captured:

• Residents’ personal stories—from the joy of retirement to the challenges of fixed incomes, limited housing options, and major life changes.
• The excitement of moving into a new home, with open floor plans, walk-in showers, wide doorways, and safety features missing from older properties.
