We always like to use our Vimeo page for our films as a way to give others a little insight into the technical and our thinking behind each of our films.
Mintyslippers were the official filmmaker for the Love My Dress Summer Soiree at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Arts in Newcastle.
We wanted to capture the vibe of the day but also show the effort that went into making that day possible.
Filmed on Canon DSLR's we spent 90% of the day on a 50mm f1.4 for the most natural look possible. Other lenses used were the Canon 70-200 f2.8 IS Mark2 and the Sigma 30mm f1.4 for our Steadicam work.
The Mark 2 70-200 holds a few benefits over the original. The first is the IS is a lot quieter so you can barely hear it now with an external shotgun mic. It also produces a much sharper image in line with the other L series lenses but the biggest improvement is the way it adjusts its aperture. Currently using photo lenses for video results in a sudden change whenever you adjust your aperture. This lens behaves much more like cinema glass in that the change is gradual.
Edited and graded entirely in Sony Vegas.
