Commercial directed by Pete Martin at The Gate Worldwide - with Oscar-nominated cinematographer Seamus McGarvey (top man) – for Scotland's national newspaper. Shot on super-35, with motion control.
Shooting at dawn in a Glasgow street, we were accosted by the 'crew' of a famous rapper who was playing a gig in the city. They thought we were trying to film the rapper, so fracas ensued in which Seamus ended up wrestling £250,000 worth of cine camera with a guy called Proof, who then assaulted a member of the art department, while their arrogant minders looked on. So the Glasgow 'polis' were called, and huckled the guy, who now looked more like a sorry little boy than a badass. Anyway, their manager handed over some cash for the victim to drop charges. I saw Proof on MTV after the tour - and he said Scotland had been the highlight. "It's cool." I later heard he was shot and killed in the USA, and wasn't surprised.
