AWKWARD MOMENTS SERIES IV
The fourth series of Awkward Moments explores the perceptual phenomenon of Kinetic Synaesthesia - a neurological dysfunction formulated in light of psychological, physiological, and phenomenological accounts of both - synaesthesia and kinesthesis. Using sound and music as a multi-dimensional performative trigger of moving bodies, projected images and light, the series explores four dancers kinesthetic sense, which is sometimes called "muscle memory” - the awareness of our own movement.
Traveling through the six chapters of a life cycle - Genesis, Blossom, Maturity, Decline, Death and Revival, the thirty minutes performance was imagined and created by Mimi Xu in collaboration with Lindsay Kemp featuring Renée Stewart, Waddah Sinada and Lily McMenamy.
