Filmed in Summer 2018, Suginami, Tokyo, Japan
AKIYA is a short film on a topic that deserves visibility within the urban development discourse in Tokyo.
We want to show how spatially valuable resources are about to disappear in the urban fabric of Tokyo. AKIYA shows an 80 years old first-generation house in the middle of being demolished.
Within the lifespan of Japanese houses, 80 years equals 400 years in Europe. We are the ones fighting against the waste of recourses. With this in mind, we will show some last sequences that were shot right before its elimination. Farewell!
