Ivan Pulic: met him 8 or so years ago when he was a pint-sized wog just discovering a love for belly sliding at the local beaches around the gong. We then formed our own little crew of over keen groms and pestered around Gong/Shellharbour way making sure to always take a carload of 5 guys to every spot we went. It was during these early stages where he revealed to me what has to be the best grom stories of all time…
One afternoon he managed to convince his dad to take him down to south beach after school. His dad being the firm man he was gave him a strict time limit to be back at the car and ready to head home when dinner was ready. Ivan pushed this time limit a little too far (1 min late) causing his dad to take his board off him upon his late arrival, lose his mind, then viciously snap it over the tray of his Ute and then preceded to drive home in silence.. Lucky for him without his dad’s knowledge his mum took him to get a new board the next day.
As we grew older we naturally progressed to chasing waves down the coast where he honed his skills and he took a particular liking to hitting every massive ramp that came his way. Unlike most ambitious young bodyboarders these days Ivan has a strong work ethic and is an accomplished tradie in the form of fixing cars and painting houses rather than waiting in the centerlink line every fortnight.
Here is a clip of him featuring mainly of some stand out sessions from winter 2011 and a few other bits and pieces. Enjoy
