From race and religion to gender and sexuality, some of the most prominent and viral stories today focus on — and appeal to — identity groups. At the 2018 East-West Center International Media Conference in Singapore, a panel of journalists and researchers from South Africa, Australia and the US dissect the growth of the identity lens, and how journalists can employ it to further their storytelling. The conference was co-hosted by EWC, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and Singapore Management University, and this panel was sponsored by Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art.
