David Woods escapes the pit palaver for a giddy gallimaufry of manic manoeuvres at Ivinghoe Beacon.
This frantic footage is from an impressive tour de force of freestyle glider aerobatics including stall turns, inverted stall turns, multiple rolls and loops, a nice flick roll and a superb eight point roll. Not bad for a much repaired model built in 1993.
The Rumour is homebuilt model of some 2.4m span with a glass fuselage. The wings are from six sections of blue foam. It has a selfmade carbon I-spar; the skins are made from 100gsm carbon, plain weave cut at 45º bias, vacuumed on to the wing cores with epoxy resin. The lightweight tailplane is of a hollow moulded glass Rohacell sandwich construction. The model carries no nose weight and does not need ballast nor does it have the capacity to carry ballast. My own version's construction of the Rumour is available here: favonius.com/soaring/bagging/bagging.htm
Filmed entirely with a Key Ring Camera #11 (1280x720 HD). Edited with Microsoft Movie Maker.
