AREDN Mesh Node Deployment at DARN 3, Mt. Wilson, CA, June 29, 2018

David Ahrendts

Thanks to the generosity of DARN's Dick McKay, K6VGP, and Mike Lee, K6MJU, members of the Ventura County Amateur Radio Emergency Data Network (AREDN), the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) NW in collaboration with ARES NE, deployed two 5G Ubiquiti sector antennas pointing SW and SE to greater Los Angeles from the six-thousand foot Mt. Wilson DARN location potentially connecting dozens of new stakeholders to this unique emergency network. Thanks also to ARES LAX NW District Emergency Coordinator Roozy Moabery and ARRL District Coordinator for Ventura County, Rob Hanson, for climbing the tower, and to AERDN loyalists Paul Strauss and Orv Beach for making it all happen. David Ahrendts, KK6DA, Los Angeles, ARES NW Asst. EC-Hollywood.
