"My current views are shaped by a more informed understanding of the pharmaceutical industry (where I began my career) and the medical field, both of which I believe are led more to cure and make profit than to heal and prevent. I used to believe hospitals and doctors would do everything they could in the best interest of supporting the woman's body through pregnancy, but I see the broader contexts of research, exploration and capitalism at play. I also believe more in the capacity of our bodies to speak to us and to have all that it needs to address the conditions it is facing. And the more I learn about traditions and customs of people around the world, the more I consider there are traditional practices that work (and conspire) with us to support women through our evolution from girl to woman, and woman to mother, nurturer, leader and elder."
