Our trip continued on day two as we left the truck stop after an hour and a half of rest. This was my first time through the Blue Ridge Mountains, and I was truly awestruck at their beauty (and can only imagine how picturesque they must be during the spring or autumn).
We breezed through Virginia's Shenandoah Valley and made it into the North Carolina welcome center with little fanfare. Outside Charlotte we encountered our first snag when the key to my gas cap broke off in the lock. It would be less than an hour before the entire car ceased to be.
Though we were dead on the highway by 12:30, it would be another 9 hours before we were placed in a hotel, stranded and alone in Kings Mountain, NC.
