The Loyal Death of the Pro Model
- I should have watched the previous episode on here before I talked with Ed. But at least there's a chance to put an extra 2 cents in here.
Pat Milbery isn't an unloyal person... he's quite the opposite. I know the reason that he doesn't ride for Forecast any more, that's easy... they're fuckin out of business... and he wasn't the cause of that. To his credit, he's probably the only reason that anyone knew of the brand. And by circumstance I was there when he stopped riding for Arbor. I would have done the same thing.
I don't know why other companies aren't making pro models any more. I know why I believe in pro models... They're something that a rider can strive for... it's an accomplishment. It's acknowledgement from a brand that they believe in what a rider has done in the past. It's a way of making a rider feel like they are APART of a company... and that what they do is influential.
There was a time when pro riders had pro models... because those riders were gods among men, landing everything, and doing interviews for espn and filming openers for video parts with personality and charisma that holly wood actors DREAM of having. Those were the good ol' days. I hear a lot of people on here talking about the "good ol' days". I hope when I get old I don't sit around thinking about it, but I know that I will. Hmmmm... I think I've heard that somewhere before... youtube.com/watch?v=VsEkhy7fGLw
Those are gone. Time to make new memories... and add to the ever growing list of snowboard legends.
