On the 4th June 2018, Tim Gardom was invited to speak at the Max Planck Institute in Berlin. The day of talks was devoted to the subject of translation from ancient texts including linguistics and mathematics. Tim recently led the interpretation planning and development of the Middle East galleries at Penn Museum, in Philadelphia. Penn Museum has one of the world's largest collections of cuneiform tablets, some that date back further than 6,000 BCE. In this talk Tim speaks about translation in the sense of 'bringing across' meaning from the past to the present and communicating that meaning through various interpretive techniques to modern audiences.
