Professor Susan Green who teaches at California State University Chico explains why she supports her union, the California Faculty Association.
The union is important to me because it protects the rights of everyone. When you feel most vulnerable, most abused and most afraid, the union is there. Colleagues are there to protect you and your rights and make sure you get justice and fairness in comparison to what the administration is going to offer you.
It’s important for us to bargain collectively, because together we have strength. Each individual might be able to cut a deal for themselves, but collectively we need to have a good deal and we can only do that through a union like the California Faculty Association.
