Adam Šakový, the one of the most outstanding figures of the young painting, who appeared and became more visible on the Slovak art scene during the last ten years. The graduate of the Klaudia Kosziba’s studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava succeeded during this short period of time in formulating his own clear and significant artistic expression, which he continues to further cultivate and develop.
Since his university studies Adam Šakový explores, in a quite analytical way, the character of a medium of painting and its possibilities to manipulate the reality. The author’s original interest in creating an illusion for which he used a photography as a model, still persists. What changed, is the aim of creating the uncertainty about the medium itself (painting or photography). A visual game with the attention of a recipient is now constructed a little bit differently – not as an image as a space for an imagination of 3D reality. On a contrary, by flattening – shifting a painting to its original form the illusion almost immediately disappears, literally. All this seemingly formal “playground” is happening, as usual in Šakový’s oeuvre, on the clearly and conceptually constructed basis.

BAD KARMA BOY
Bad Karma Boy (alt-pop, SVK) writes songs based on minimalistic guitar lines that span around psychedelic keys & synths landscapes. These are complemented by layered vocals and arrangements that include omnichord, vibraphone or kalimba sounds.
Since its beginning in 2012, the four-piece band has been a part of a respected Slovak alternative label Slnko Records. They have released three studio albums, all three of them were praised by media as some of the best that Slovak scene has to offer. All of them scored nominations for the Best Record of the Year at one of Slovakia's most prestigious music awards held under state-wide Radio FM.
