Sharon Shorty and Duane Ghastant' Aucoin have been performing stand-up comedy together since 2001, but they've known each other since they were children. Shorty's grandmother took Aucoin in as her own grandchild, and would correct him every time he did not call her "gramma."
This performance took place at the First Nation Learning Centre in Carcross, YT., after six clan totem poles and one story pole were erected on July 27. A full day of celebrations brought hundreds of First Nations and non-First Nations people to the sight, a hopeful step towards cultural revitalization.
