At the convergence of art, science and sustainability, this steel and glass sculpture logs exterior sunlight conditions and responds with dynamic lighting and shadows. Through an ever-changing array of light and shadow, ‘Lightwell’ celebrates transformation and diversity in the Adams-Morgen neighborhood of Washington DC, a historic center for social justice, political activism and an immigrant gateway.
‘Lightwell’ is a permanent public artwork commissioned by the District of Columbia’s Percent for Art program.
