'Collapsing the boundaries between photography and film, the piece represents an attempt to understand an aspect of our internal space.
The two screened images demonstrate a floating figure (the artist herself) moving out of sync with one another through a dark eternal space that falls into abandonment. The strange, sometimes unpredictable transitions of our emotions is revealed to us in extreme slow motion and is represented by the body’s constant change in language.
Lauren's goal is to allow both herself and the viewer to seek this position of in-betweeness and motion. A position which only appears to be constantly revolving and evolving when we ask ourselves to slow down, to reach for something deeper than the harsh and superficial realities that plague and trap us daily.'
Credits to: Matt Burton and John Roy for assisting technically on the shoot (camera and lighting) and many thanks to Szymon Szulakiewicz for helping on the edit.
