Pastor Dan Wolf delivers a message covering the three books of Joel, a prophet to the northern kingdom of Israel.
Unlike today, in Joel's day, God was still giving them new messages in their time. One clear message from Joel is this - God judges His people.
The prophetic office was a great and terrible one. To begin with, the definition of a true prophet of God was they could never be wrong, not even once. False prophets were discredited and deserved the death penalty. Genuine prophets delivered new words from God in that day by prophetic acts of the Holy Spirit.
We're supposed to look forward to Jesus' Second Coming. God is coming to make things right. We're told in scripture that in that day, every tongue will confess and every knee will bow. His people will be joyful. However, those who don't know him will dread that day.
Joel 1:1-5, 11 - 12 "Surely the people’s joy is withered away." God wrote His word in a way no man ever would. Sometimes God calls people to say incomprehensible things.
Why is the Bible so deadly serious? Because God loves us. Heaven is a real place. Our passivity will drag us to Hell if we aren't very careful. Hell is looming.
Heb. 9:27 "each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment"
Think about this: would Christ have died on that cross if there were any other way? People need to know they need a Savior before they come to Jesus.
The door that is locked is not in Heaven, the door that is locked is in our own heart.
1 Cor. 14:3
Joel 3:1 - 2 Armageddon. "multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision..."
God brings justice. Will you be ready?
