A conversation with Pat Evans, from Manifesting Resistance 2018.
After spending most of my working life as an academic, retirement opened up exciting activist possibilities. I found my 'home' with the Grandmothers Advocacy Network a cross-Canada network of mostly older women who advocate in Canada and internationally to improve access to medicines, education, and ending violence against women in ways that improve the lives of grandmothers in sub-Saharan Africa.
Along with others, I am involved with preparing the GRAN archives for deposit and digital access. This is an exciting intergenerational project with two other GRAN partners and May Chazan and Melissa Baldwin. This project began with the simple idea of organizing files but has evolved into understanding the complicated issues of power and selectivity as we create the GRAN 'story' through its archives. grandmothersadvocacy.org
