Pianiste solitaire, en échec bien que virtuose, Izak survit en donnant des cours de piano. Sa relation devenue intime avec Lucie, jeune élève de 16 ans, lui redonne confiance. Ainsi pour la première fois dans sa carrière, il remporte brillamment une audition pour un concert majeur. Le même jour, Lucie est victime d’un grave accident.
Le jour du grand concert, Izak décide contre toute attente de changer les règles.

Izak is a piano soloist, talented yet embittered by a string of failures, making a meager living by giving piano lessons. Through the growing relationship with his young 16 year-old student, Lucie, he regains his confidence. He plays brilliantly at an important audition, and for the first time in his career, has the opportunity to play a major concert. On the day of the audition, Lucie is victim of a terrible accident.
For his grand recital debut, Izak decides to change the rules.
