The Plektrum Festival will be opened with “Bas Relief“, an Estonian-German joint project, presenting the music of contemporary Estonian and German composers. The concert includes the first performances of works by Malle Maltis (Estonia) and Fabian Müller (Switzerland), and the performances of works by Jüri Reinvere, Toivo Tulev, Arvo Pärt (Estonia) and Reinhard David Flender (Germany). The selection of performances draws upon the criterion to provide the public with a discourse of sounds through a variety of musical structures and to fill the space with a vigorous and visual tour through the world of sounds.
Colourful sounds will be brought to you by NYYD quartet (the successor of NYYD Ensemble, Estonia) together with NATHAN quartet (Germany) and pianist Marrit Gerrets-Traksmann (Estonia). The sounds will be complemented with Plektrum visuals by Emer Värk.
