During the first .com surge of investment capitol in San Francisco, I got a call to direct a business oriented film using climbing as a backdrop. I went up to SF from LA and had never seen two screens on every single desk of the company. I knew it was a well financed project. I hired my previous assistant Rob Sweeney to be the DP. He worked with me on El Captain when we shot the title sequence for Start Trek V. Rob is now a very established DP in LA and we had fun hiring our friends to work on this not very well written project. We did get to use a proper romote head crane in the climbing gym to tell the story. It was fun. Most notable was the late Chris Alport as the lead climbing actor. Chris died in an avalanche tragically. I loved him and his family. Really tragic because Chris was a gifted actor. The dot com bubble soon burst. And so it goes.
