This is the first episode of a three-part series that follows the Community Wilderness Stewardship Project's survey of West Chichagof Island in Southeast Alaska.
Follow the expedition team as they introduce the Wilderness Stewardship Project, survey threatened and invasive plants, survey coastlines and grow facial hair while protecting the wilderness character of our Tongass National Forest.
The Community Wilderness Stewardship Project is funded by the National Forest Foundation and the Sitka Conservation Society's Living Wilderness fund, this project creates a working partnership between the US Forest Service Sitka Ranger District, SCS, and a broad spectrum of community members to conduct scientific research expeditions and community monitoring in the two Wilderness Areas surrounding Sitka.
