In June 2011 a group of 30 walkers traversed 220km of Australia's Simpson Desert. They were raising funds for Youngcare, an organisation dedicated to the establishment of special homes for Australia's seven thousand severely disabled young people, who currently have no residential options other than Old Age Nursing homes.
Walking mostly off road, and climbing over 800 sanddunes they were the largest single group ever to visit the Simpson Desert's remote and rarely visited Geocentre.
