In this teaching, Dr. Don G. Pickney begins a series on the Authority of the Believer in Christ. In this first teaching, he emphasizes the need to understand this very special realm of authority. Beginning with Paul's Ephesians instructions, he introduces a biblical term, "Heavenly places." Apostle Paul says that we are "blessed with all spiritual blessings 'in heavenly places' in Christ Jesus. He then goes on to describe how we came to be associated with the Lord Jesus Christ in this special "place" of authority. Paul goes on to say of “Heavenly places,” it is "far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come."
We learn that when Jesus was given this special place of authority at the right hand of God, He conjoined us together completely with Him, and raised us up together with Him and made us sit together with Him in this special realm. This series will stress the importance of living our spiritual lives in that special "Heavenly place" of authority granted us in Christ resurrection and ascension to God's Heavenly throne.
As the series continues Pastor Don will stress that this is an entirely different realm than the authority Adam was given in the Genesis account; that the two have no bearing at all on each other; and that Adam’s authority came from God for natural things, limited to the “fish of the sea, fowl of the air, beasts of the field, over the earth itself (Heb. erets – the crust of the sphere) for tilling, growing crops, and mining the substances found in the soil), and finally over every creeping thing on the earth. (Genesis 1:26,28)
Pastor Don will, in this series, also reconstruct the truth regarding an error within the Word of Faith movement’s doctrine of “Adam’s authority for the duration of an ‘Adamic lease period’ during which Satan became the ‘god of this world.’”
