This is Tasha's story. She arrived as a single, young mom at Carrie Simon House, a nonprofit transitional housing program in northwest Washington, DC, and found stability, support, and her inner strength to create a life for herself and her son. Carrie Simon House provides transitional housing to teen moms, plus skills to provides young, homeless mothers and their children a stable, nurturing group living environment and the time and support to get their lives on track. With individualized counseling, mentoring and day-to-day guidance, Carrie Simon House makes it possible for single mothers age 18-25 to advance or complete their schooling, attain steady employment and develop sound life-management and parenting skills.
