90 secondes in the tiny village of Saulkuchi, known for its traditionnal silk weaving. Located 35 km from Guwahati, capital of Assam in India, Saulkuchi is situated on the banks of the River Brahmaputra.
The tradition of silk weaving began in this village in the 11th century when King Dharma Pal of the Pala dynasty sponsored the craft and brought 26 weaving families to Saulkuchi. Today, in the courtyard of every house there is a weaving workshop

La tradition du tissage de la soie a commencé dans ce village au 11ème siècle lorsque le roi du Dharma Pal de la dynastie Pala a parrainé l'artisanat et installé 26 familles de tisserand à Saulkuchi.
