The 18th annual Pilaros Taste of the Danforth, held on August 5 - 7, 2011, is Canada's largest street festival. Nearly 3 kilometres of roadway were closed as the largest number ever (estimated at 1.3 million) of visitors were attracted to the area. People enjoyed a wide variety of entertainment showcased on 3 stages. Tasty varieties of food was offered by over 100 vendors. The Danforth claims to have the most restaurants per kilometre than anywhere in the world.
It's a cosmopolitan area with not only Greek restaurants but also other multi-ethnic restaurants including Japanese, Thai, Italian, Chinese and Indian choices. It's the perfect place for Gyros, pitas, souvlaki and a wide variety of desserts.
The 3 day festival was all about food, entertainment and having a good time. A sports zone and kids zone, food samples, beer patios, the musicians, street vendors, exhibits, carnival rides and the many tasting experiences are reasons that make Pilaros Taste of the Danforth, Toronto's favourite event.
