On a Monday morning in August 2006 I was sitting in my office doing some work on the computer when the phone rang. The voice on the other end was calm, rich and gentle. “May I speak with Marc Miller?” asked the voice. “This is he.” I answered, wondering what kind of person owned this pastoral set of vocal chords.
Don introduced himself and immediately asked if I was available this coming weekend to shoot a short comedy film for him on Super-16mm. Well, I was available and we set up a meeting for early the next morning at my office. After viewing some samples of my work, reading the script and a few quick phone calls, Don and I agreed to location scout the very next day (Wednesday) three days before the shoot.
During the next 3 days Don and I pulled all the pieces of this puzzle together. We found crew, lighting truck, generator, dolly and extras and had it all there on time Saturday morning for the shoot. Don was very focused and calm under the pressure. His expertly selected cast made it all fun. With top pros like Angela Payton as Lavinia and Dean Jones as Mr. Cavalotti, the performances were rock solid.
I thank Don and the whole team for making this shoot another highlight of my career.
