This photo was taken in December 2008. It was a great summer’s day at Woolsthorpe, Victoria. The sun was shining and the wind was calm.
I can remember this day as if it was yesterday where everyone was having a great time sliding down the very slippery, black plastic slide that Sophie, my cousin’s, dad had put together before we arrived.
The reason we were there was because Sophie had invited us to her 8th birthday party where she had a jumping castle and of course a slippery slide. Woolsthorpe isn’t close to any beaches or any pools so we had to cool off with a hose, black plastic and heaps of detergent. I can remember feeling very happy at the time as you can see by the smile on my face. When I look at the photo now I also feel happy and can’t help but smile.
In the background of the photo you can see a little boy holding a hose. He is my younger brother Dylan, who was 7 years old at the time. He was holding the hose so my face and head could get wet. You can also just slightly see a boy and a girl near the house. The boy is my older brother Jackson aged 13 at the time and the girl is my cousin Sophie who was the BIRTHDAY GIRL!! Both of whom were waiting for their turn on the slide. The girl at the end of the water slide is of course me aged 10 at the time. I am wearing my bathers and my favourite rash vest that I always wore. I wore it so much that it was really stretched and long.
I will remember that day and others much like it for the rest of my life.
